EDI Workplan: Mentoring

The Dalton Nuclear Institute will provide access to and support for a 360-degree Cross-Institutional Mentorship Program that will be established across all institutions involved in the consortium, developed with the advice of the not-for-profit organisations Inclusion and Diversity in Nuclear, Racial Equality in Nuclear, and the Rainbow Forum. Mentorship will be assigned as part of the project’s onboarding program, and all senior academics and researchers working in GeoSafe will be expected to actively participate in the mentorship programme.

Each new hire will be paired with a project scientist, and the mentorship will include Reverse Mentoring, where ECRs will have the opportunity to mentor senior researchers in areas such as emerging technologies and innovative research methodologies. All participants will be encouraged to participate in the annual “Beyond Ethnicity Career Conference” organised by Imperial College, and participation will be monitored by the EDI Committee.

Our first GeoSafe Speed Mentorship event took place online on Sept 27th, and was a great success.
